Terrible Human Rights Violation in West Bengal ...

Reports From : Kumardeep Banerjee
 West Bengal (India)

The under trials of Alipore Central Correctional Home. West Bengal,
boycotting courts are facing sheer trouble. One of them namely Amlan
Dutta has already been transferred to Presidency Jail. But, what is
his fault? He is fighting for his right and justice is this his fault?
Is this our world largest democracy? Please help these under trials
sir, they are under serious threat. The high court at calcutta on
16.2.2012 has granted bail to one Gaffar Mollah, who is a hardcore
criminal and the prime accused of the highlighted Vedic Village murder
case on the grounds of prolonged pre-trial detention. That means the
dreaded dons are getting their personal right to life & liberty but
these under trials who are first time offenders are not getting it?
But why? Whats their fault.

Today, 'Association for Protection of Democrative Rights' are working
on the release of Political Prisoners in west bengal. A special review
committe has been formed for release of political prisoners. Even the
courts, by special hearings on the basis of applications received from
different prisoners, awarding the status of political prisoners and
the committee is recommending their release to the state Government.
Now the question arises is, if the political prisoners even after
committing henious offences are getting their liberty then who will
lookafter the releae of these under trials who are first time
offemders and languishing behind bars suffering punishments without
being convicted yet? Recently the Hon'ble Law Minister Mr. Malay
Ghatak has said that his government is considering to continue works
on saturday and sunday to reduce the huge pendency of criminal cases,
although the bar association has protested this decision.
Now any one can understand as per the version of Law Minister that the
states criminal justice delivery system does not have the
infrastructure to tackle the load of criminal cases. So, why and
howlong these utps will be forced to suffer punishments by means of
prolonged detention behind bars without being convicted? Why these
under trials are being deprived of their right to speedy, fair and
open trial?

Now as these under trials like Amlan Dutta and others who are fighting
for their right and justice and as they have raised their voices
against the judiciary and the  government are being tortured by
transferring them from one jail to another. But why? These under
trials also have complaiend before the NHRC but no action has since
been taken. They are in danger please help them and also please do not
disclose my identity too.

Yours truly
Banerjee
